Before they listen to you, they want you to listen to them. Such a simple statment, but so powerful in reaching the next generation. I tell youth workers all the time that if they want the teens to listen to the lesson, first spend some time hearing what they have to say about the subject. We don't have to agree with their opinions, but we do have to hear them.

I write a lot about this idea in my book, Mission Possible: Reaching the Next Generation through the Small Church.

I just want to say something from the apostle Paul,
found in the book of 1 Corinthians,
"The words that I speak are not of man's teaching, but the teachings of the Holy Spirit"
First to all those who feel that a seminary degree is vital to becoming a ministor, how many of you actually have read the Bible all the way through even once?
How many have actually studied the living word from cover to cover? If you had, you would have the right to speak of such things. A Seminary is a man made creation, made up of people who are intellectuals, where did they get their intellect? From reading the Bible, who told them this was the exact way the Lord Jesus wanted his word taught?
2nd: If Jesus was so concerned with educated men being a part of his church, then why did he chose unedcuated men to follow and begin it? Even Paul himself had to be retaught by the Holy Spirit, how often did he tell others that he was not a great orator? How often did he speak against wisdom of men? If Christ wanted a Seminary degree to be the basis of spreading his gospel, then why didnt he recruit from the Sanhedrin. Who gave Peter the right to preach to the people once Jesus had ascended to the Father? Why he was just a common Fisherman who had just listened and watched what his Master has done. Folks we need to wake up and realize that all we are concerned with these days in church is a good time, a fancy speach and a positive word for our future. Of course Seminary will educate, but so will the living word, read it, study it, pray and fast. Stop acting like Pharisees worried about a piece of paper as the only way to hear a good pastor, I knew more without one that led spuls to Heaven's door, than many who led them straight to Hell with a misunderstood Seminary degree. Get a degree if you wish, but I serve Christ not man, I worry about pleasing him, not mankind. Next time your church worries about hiring a preacher with or without a degree, first ask the one who gave you the right to even have a church, Jesus Christ, because if your church is founded to fill seats, and make money, then best prepare a table for Lucifer Sunday because I promise you he's there

I've had this Bible Android App for about a month. Today I found that 1/2 of verse Revelations 2:18 is missing in the NKJV. I checked this against the paper version of the Bible, and the app is wrong. A little disappointed, since my app for Daily Bible from BibleGateway.com is accurate.

Great post Pastor Craig ... greetings from the UK :) ... just finished watching K19: The Widowmaker with the family and it hadn't occurred to me prior to watching the movie just how dangerous pride can be. The movie illustrates in this case how Moscow in 1961 was so keen to show the world how powerful they were by deploying their state of the art nuclear submarine, which in reality was constructed with sub standard components which led to half the crew dying from exposure to radiation. Then I realised that all wars stem from pride ... and fear. So I guess my point is that our individual acts of disguised pride on the face of it aren't that wrong ... or are they? Isn't it all a matter of the heart? If our thoughts about our neighbour are negative and that is the same as murder, then isn't a seemingly 'innocent' RT that is really intended to glorify ourselves, the thin end of the wedge ... and the thick end is all out war?

Our church is in the middle of a merger at this time. Well, I say that, but the other church is actually voting on the merger this coming Sunday. We voted two weeks ago with a unanimous vote! Our median age is early to mid 30's, the other church's median age is 75. The vast majority of their church is for the merger but there are about five people attempting to hold things up. Five people may not sound like much, but when you only have 25-30 people voting on issues, they could comprise a large percentage. This is moving quickly, and I expect they will pass the vote on Sunday. While there are many things yet to do i.e. Constitution/Bylaws, I am trying to find a way, that through the transitional period, my pastoral authority cannot be usurped. This has been a problem throughout the history of the church we are merging with. I will be the pastor as there is no pastor at the other church. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is LifeChurch still active Second Life? I have not been back since 2007, but recently wondered if the Christian community has made any advances there. Thanks!
